COST PLANNING
Financial planning studies of projects based on the initial brief. Cost advice during the preliminary design stage and establishment of preliminary budget estimates. Cost monitoring during detail design stage and advice on the cost effect of design decisions. Cost-checking of the final detailed design. Life cycle costing and cost-in-use studies of materials, components, systems, methods and overall project.
VALUE MANAGEMENT
A facilitated process through which the Client can ensure that the building design evolves in accordance with an agreed set of objectives. Value Management also aids the briefing process by providing a rigorous framework within which to determine the relative importance of the key design objectives and the comparative benefits of alternative courses of action.
VALUE ENGINEERING
The process of providing the necessary functions of the building which have been established in the design brief at minimum cost whilst maintaining quality. Value engineering is a facilitated process through which particular emphasis is given to the issues of buildability and life cycle costs.
RISK ANALYSIS AND ASSESSMENT
Risk Analysis and Assessment recognises the uncertainty that surrounds the time and price forecast of construction by accepting that there is a variety of possible outcomes of a range of identifiable risks. The process requires the preparation of a list of risk items with an assessment of each event occurring, based on expert judgment, to produce estimates of the most likely, lowest and highest time and price alternatives.
CONTRACT AND CONTRACTOR SELECTION
Advice on the most suitable tendering procedures and contractual arrangements for projects including preparation of bid/tender lists and investigation into financial management, labour and plant resources. Selection of, or advice on, the proposed construction contract.
BID/TENDER DOCUMENTATION
Advice on the selection of the type of documentation required to obtain comparable competitive bids/tenders to suit the size, nature and location of the project. Preparation of selected documentation.
BID/TENDER EVALUATION
Monitoring of tendering procedures, evaluation of bids/tenders received and preparation of reports and recommendations.
